DTU was formed in 2016 by four dance team industry veterans with different areas of expertise and a common vision: to provide a new camp and competition opportunity for dance teams that is customer-focused and emphasizes freedom and expanding the boundaries of the sport.

In line with this philosophy, we allow coaches and teams as much freedom as possible to create and emphasize that there are no formulas that need to be followed for a routine to be successful at our competitions. We want coaches and teams to feel appreciated and supported, not political or fearful.

Our DTU Crew members are part of our family. Just like our teams and coaches, we want to ensure their experience working for us is a positive one where they feel valued and safe.

COMPANY
Sometimes you will work an event or area that does not have any office staff or DTU owners in attendance. This means YOU are representing the company to all people in attendance. You will need to ensure that every interaction you have and every decision you make has the company's best interest in mind.

BLEOW ARE THE STEPS TO OUR ONBOARDING PROCESS. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL REQUIRE ALL STAFF TO COMPLETE THIS PROCESS EVERY SEASON.

STEP 1: Sign Event Contract
This will be different for each event type, depending on what season we are in!

STEP 2: Personal Information Form
We will need your personal information in order to make arrangements for our events. Please follow the link below to fill out this form. You are welcome to update this form at any time if your information changes!

STEP 3: Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
This must be completed by all staff and your certificate is good for two years. All certificates must be valid for the entire season. If your certificate will expire mid-season, you will be required to complete the training again.

Select Continue, select a language, and select NONSUPERVISORY. This should take you around one hour to complete. Once you have completed this training, input your full name and save this certificate and send it to events@danceteamunion.com so we can keep this on file for you.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT PREVENTION TRAINING

STEP 4: Background Check
All staff will be required to complete a background check every year. You will receive an email from us that will ask you to input some personal information in order to complete the check. If we do not have a completed background check, you will not be permitted on site at any DTU events.

STEP 5: Direct Deposit Form
All paychecks will be submitted via direct deposit. You will receive an email from QuickBooks to get set up in our system. If this is not completed prior to working an event, this will result in a delay in receiving your paycheck.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I CAN'T ATTEND AN EVENT ANY LONGER, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
If you have to pull out of an event for any reason other than a medical emergency, please let the DTU Events team know ASAP. You can find our policies for penalties in the Contracted Worker Handbook.

I NEED TO CHANGE MY FLIGHT FOR AN EVENT, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Please do not change any flights that have been booked on your behalf by DTU without the expressed permission from the DTU Events team. Our staff itineraries and all events plans are carefully thought through and changes to event details will effect all staff. You can find our policies for changing flights in our Contracted Worker Handbook.

MY FLIGHT IS DELAYED OR CANCELLED ON MY WAY TO AN EVENT, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
The first thing you should do is update your director or head instructor to let them know you have travel delays. If you are at the airport, then you should get in line to speak with a gate agent and have them put you on the next flight. If the new flight is not the same day or will disrupt the schedule of events significantly, then you should let your director know immediately and they will let you know how to move forwards. If there is no one available at the airport then you should message or call TravelPerk directly through their mobile app.

HOW MUCH WILL I BE PAID FOR WORKING AN EVENT?
Event pay depends on the event type and the position you are staffed on. You will be able to find exact details on compensation in the contract that you signed at the beginning of the season. Per diem pay is $10 for breakfast, $15 for lunch, and $25 for dinner. Per diem for all meals that were not provided to you will be added to your paycheck at the conclusion of the event.

HOW LONG AFTER THE EVENT WILL I RECEIVE PAYMENT?
It typically takes us 7-10 business days after the conclusion of an event to see your paycheck. You will receive an email from the DTU Events team with a breakdown of your paycheck. You should save these for your records.

DOES DTU WITHHOLD TAXES FROM MY PAYCHECK?
No, all DTU Crew members are contracted workers and we do not withhold any taxes from your paycheck. You will receive tax documentation from DTU at the beginning of every calendar year showing your earnings from DTU.

WILL DTU PAY FOR MY UBER TO THE AIRPORT?
No, we do not pay for any ride-share fees that you will incur to get to your home airport. If you live more than 40 miles from the airport, then DTU will pay for economy parking for the duration of your trip up to $15 per day and mileage to/from your home airport for every mile over 40 miles one way (80 miles round trip).
